Sorry, I missed the second half of the question. Yes, the DLT8000 can write
tapes which can be read on the DLT4000, but you must use DLTIII tapes in
order to do this. I do not have any DLT4000 drives handy to test this, but
the www.quantum.com specs for the 8000 show this to be true.
