You're right. The instructions have nothing to do with attaching the
printer to a DTC.

Instead, I suggested a method of converting an HP-IB attached printer to a
pseudo-printer that did not really exist - but rather was defined only to
satisfy the requirement for an LP device on the system.

You are correct that it looks like it's a scsi-atttached printer, but it's
not really. It's a non-existent printer that is defined SOLELY to satisfy
the requirement for the system to have a device defined as "LP" in order to
enable job-streaming.

Also, this technique can also be used to redefine a HP-IB printer to a DTC one.

This could be necessary - at least temporarily - if the original HP-IB
printer was the only one with the class LP.

As such, SYSGEN would not allow it to be deleted. So, by temporarily
assigning it to a scsi-attached pseudo-device, one could then define an
actual LP device using NMMGR.

In any case, I would suggest leaving the pseudo-LP scsi device. It's always
feasible to have an LP device defined in SYSGEN in the event that your DTC
subsystem is down for any reason. That can also be accomplished with a
HPTCPJD device - as suggested earlier by Lars.
