Tom,

One idea would be to purchase a larger 9x7 that one cause the PROTOS
license to go up as much and then switch to 3rd party hardware support. You
can probably pick up a nice 957 or even 987 much cheaper then the A400.

Thanx,
        Jon

Subject: [HP3000-L] Protos Suggestions

We would like to upgrade (in the short term) to an A series
box, but the cost of transferring our Protos license from our
927LX to an A400 is prohibitively expensive.

Unfortunate, about half of our programs are written in Protos.
The rest are written in Cobol.

One possibility would be to hire help to convert all the
Protos programs to Cobol. And we are considering that.

But that will be a waste if we later have to purchase
third-party software anyway due to difficulties of
migrating our home grown software off the HP3000.

Any ideas?
