I have a question about compatibilities.
If instead of buying a DDS-3 dat tape drive for a HPe3000 A400 from HP (for
~$1600), I could buy a HP C1554C external from dirt cheap drives (for
~$750), will I be able to read tapes clients send me from their HPe3000 A400
with the supplied HP DDS-3 tape drive? Will they be able to read mine? Or
do they not have compatible read/write head formats, etc.?
What kind of cable do I connect it with (2M 50 pin to 68 pin is what they
show on the quote).
Can I pull a DDS-1 tape drive from a 928 and put it in a external case and
also connect it to the HPe3000 A400?
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
