Subject: AmeriCorps Book Drive
The Literacy Enrichment Corps is an AmeriCorps tutorial program which
improves the academic success of low-income school children in grades K-3
who are at risk of failure by providing direct, demonstrable, and
sustainable educational services within Title I schools. It is our wish to
provide 400 K-3 students with increased access to reading materials by
providing at least fifty books per school. We are seeking donations of new
or “gently used” books suitable for children in Kindergarten through the
third grade. If you have any questions please contact Adrienne M. Martin at
423-785-2229. Your contributions will help spotlight Chattanooga as a city
that embraces its children and our future leaders. We want to encourage you
to help us make this project a success.
A response will be appreciated no later than March 22, 2002. Donations can
be sent to:
