Dr. Lucien Ellington of the Teacher Preparation Academy recently received
$167,034 in funding from the Freeman Foundation. He will use this grant to
continue operating the National Consortium for Teaching Asia Southeast
Satellite Center, which he directs. The Southeast Center directed by Dr.
Ellington
is a satellite of the East Asian Studies Center at Columbia University.
In his role as director, Dr. Ellington is responsible for teaching a thirty
hour
institute for secondary school educators on the histories and
cultures of China, Japan, and Korea. Dr. Ellington offers these institutes
for
secondary teachers in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi.
Congratulations to Dr. Ellington on being recognized for his expertise in
this
field of study. We appreciate his efforts to enhance cultural education in
this region.
