As Dr. Eibefung noted, the "Myparty" virus is real, but not a threat to
anyone who follows the golden rule of safe computing:

NEVER OPEN AN ATTACHMENT UNLESS YOU WERE EXPECTING IT or CONFIRM IT FIRST
with the sender. If people would follow this one simple piece of advice,
most viruses would never spread, period.

Our campus version of Norton Antivirus will detect and render the attachment
in "MyParty" harmless (although new variations could possibly fool it), but
so long as you follow the golden rule above, you have nothing to fear from
this or most other viruses. If you get a suspect message, delete it. When
in doubt, please don't spread virus warnings to all your friends (often they
are hoaxes). Instead, call the Help Desk at 755-4000 and let us verify it
for you.
