Dr. Terry Walters and Dr. Steve Kuhn have been awarded $58,619 by the National
Science Foundation for the first year of a three-year project entitled
Enhancing Mathematics Communication: Creating and Delivering Web-Based
Homework Problems. This project is an adaptation of a University of
Kentucky online homework system already in place. Workshops will be offered
to college faculty and high school teachers to design web-based problems
and use this system in their own classrooms.
Grant funds also will be used to develop a problem-solving course here at UTC.
This project will serve to enhance retention, communication, collaboration,
and success in first-year mathematics courses taught here at UTC.
Congratulations to both Dr. Walters and Dr. Kuhn for their work to strengthen
mathematics courses taught at UTC, as well as for their efforts to offer
training and development for K-12 teachers.
