We have been seeing lionfish, an exotic in NC waters,
for at least two years now.  Even have photographs.
Someone has finally collected a specimen & verified
that it is indeed a lionfish (? volitans).

Some issues R: How many are there & do they constitute
a 'breeding' population (gene pool)? & What will their
impact B on local ecology.

All in all it is interesting to see these majestic
specimens on the wrecks that we have been diving for
year.
