I was hoping this was the tree I created when I was an operator, 20 years
ago.

Back when we used the 7973 tape drives, I think that's the correct number,
It would take me four hours to do the nightly back up.
Before the backup would start I opened a file in Quad and using escape code
sequences I began painting this Christmas tree on my screen. First I
cleared the screen then by manipulating the cursor I started at the bottom
build the tree. Once at the top I moved the cursor all around the tree
adding blinking @ signs for lights. Next I started from the top added
periods at different locations, moving downward (snow). Then I set some of
the periods to blink.
To finish my master piece I wrote Merry Christmas underneath the base of the
tree (took the bottom 5 rows to do this).

Everyone I worked with then thought it was 'cool'. I left that company
after 2 years only to return 6 years later. I searched for this file but
never found it :...(

Thanks for the Memory Tracy!

Subject: [HP3000-L] Blinking XMAS Tree

Once again, I put the old escape code sequenced blinking
Christmas Tree on the Empire machine's welcome message.

Just TELNET to hp3000.empireclassic.com and logon as NULL.USER
(Or start playing one of the games listed at the web site
with the same name.)

If you want to capture the escape sequences for yourself,
just set "DISPLAY FUNCTIONS" on (*) and do it again.

Then you can cut and paste it to your own file, where-ever.
