from an HP source:

|The CMA Threads (libcma) package has been deprecated (slated for
| future obsolescence) at HP-UX 11i and this development environment
| will no longer be shipped with the 11.20 release. There is no
| plan to release native IA-64 CMA Threads on IA-64 platforms.
| Further information regarding this can be found in the 11i release
| notes under the heading "Various New and Changed HP-UX Features:
| Kernel threads vs CMA threads".

Not quite our idea of forward compatibility!
I think that the old DEL/3000 libraries still work on MPE ;=))

|* HP systems not supported on HP-UX 11.23 (2003)
|
| The following HP 9000 series systems will not support
| HP-UX 11.23 (which is the next HP-UX release after 11i for
| PA-based hardware.)
|
| 32-bit A-class servers (A180, A180C)
| All D-class servers
| All R-class servers
| All E-class servers
| All K-class servers
| All T-class servers
| All V-class servers

And we gripe about 9x7 systems being dropped
