The LJ 4050 also has PCL5 (or better) which covers all of PCL3. As
far as i rememeber Postscript is only an option. The language to use
for a print job is either specified in a PJL (printer job language)
header or guessed from the print data.
Now your problem is that the barcode support is done differently
between the 2934 and the laserjet. On the 2934 this was a special
esc sequence and on the laserjet it is implemented as a font.
If you want to use bar codes with LaserJet your options are:
- buy a special simm (a ROM chip which could be plugged in the
printer to extend the builtin fonts with barcode).
For older LaserJet there used to be a cartridge available from
hp to do this but i don't think you can use that with the 4050.
- use a soft font which is downloade with the print job.
In any case you need to do minor adaptions on the application to
use a different esc sequence.
