If broken up, I would fully expect the Microsoft parts to gain
value, at least for a while. Eventually the operating system
folks would get with it or lose out. Right now I think they hang
on by the coattails of Office and bullying the hardware dealers.
If separated from both crutches, they'd have to learn to make a
better operating system.
