So is the consensus here that the article was serious? The "facts" in it
were so outrageous that I assumed it was a joke.

My four year old has a PC, he mostly plays CD from the cat in the hat or
from the Captain Crunch box.
All of our PC's(4) at the house have AMD chips. My wife found the article
an insult to intelligence, I found it humorous.
I do not know where the AMD chip is made. However I have been to free trade
zones in other countries, often called off shore production. These places
provide jobs and produce goods at lower cost.
I get a good cost to megahertz ratio with AMD chips.
