Of course what I *meant* to say was:

"...  take over support and enhancement of MPE and its sub-systems
no later than the end of HP support at the end of 2006."

Also note that by saying above I did not mean to in any way preclude
3rd party support under whatever HP licensing scheme is appropriate
from starting *earlier* than end of 2006:  What I was focusing on is
my belief that having made the commitment to sell and enhance 3000s
until Oct '03 and support them until end of 2006, HP cannot now turn
around and say they are getting completely out of the 3000 support
business before 2006... If they want to subcontract some or much of
the R&D and / or support, I've got no problem and would in fact
encourage that..  And of course people can get support contracts
directly from 3rd parties right now..  It's the option to continue to get
them from / through HP that should be maintained until end of 2006....
