Folks, get past it. Computers and platforms come and go - perhaps one of the
unusual characteristics of the HP3000/MPE/Image environment has indeed been
its longevity.

I began progranmming/systems design with a GE-400 Series mainframe in the
60's. Then onto a Univac box and an HP2000 in the 70's, a DEC-VAX in the
early '80's and the HP3K for the last 15 years. IMHO, the migration of
applications from one platform to another (HP or otherwise) presents a rare
opportunity for IT professionals to review and improve each and every
system they're responsible for. And a five-year window provides for this to
be done in a measured, orderly, fiscally-sound way.

Life as we know it will survive this decision by HP. Guaranteed.
