My thanks to Dennis at the HP Response Center for fixing the mess I made
with Predictive Support. Sorry, I don't have Dennis' last name. The
problem is related to MPE/ix 7.0 and the way diagnostics are handled. The
nightly backup job I migrated from 5.5 to 7.0 shut down both NS and
transport at the start of the backup.
I hope I state this correctly. The predictive monitor job and STM must be
stopped prior to stopping the network transport. Otherwise, the low level
diag daemons get "confused." The symptoms I noted: nightly scheduled
Predictive doesn't run, PSCONFIG appears to hang without displaying its
initial menu and CSTM appears to hang while trying to identify the unit
under test.
I have to admit that I read about stopping the diag monitor but didn't
completely understand what needed to be done. Again, many thanks to Dennis
for setting me straight on the issue.
John
