Huh?

I think emotions are running high today.

Let me see if I can interpret Jerry's comments:

Bradmark has customers. Bradmark will continue supporting their
customers as they have all along. The business won't dry up
overnight. Bradmark has solutions on other platforms, too. So,
they're telling people that they will continue to be partners
with them and will support them both on the 3000 and on Unix
and NT as required for business continuity.

In other words .... no need to panic.

Hmm ... the same can be said of ORBiT. The same can be said
of any other vendor in the 3000 community. All that has happened
is that a timeline has been placed in front of us. And, that
timeline is 2-5 years, depending on your perspective.

No one is "ecstatic" about today's announcement. But, when
the emotions are done and people start looking at this with
a realist's view, they'll realize that five years can be a
long time in the land of computers.

Can you name one other company that has documented a 5 year
plan for any platform for as long as CSY has done so? Can
you even imagine having a 5 year platform plan from M$ or
Sun?

I find it interesting that Hewlett Packard didn't mention the name of the
street they were on when they gathered this 'street buzz'?

It must be the yellow brick road; lead bricks painted with gold paint.

That is the HP 1984 Newspeak for you, folks:
(hope I am not really dating myself with that reference)

And from our friends at Bradmark:

Bradmark, Jerry Fochtman, Director of HP e3000 Research and Development
"Bradmark has partnered with Hewlett-Packard and the HP e3000 community for
more than 20 years. Going forward, we will continue to offer the
high-quality products and services that help our HP e3000 customers meet
their business needs. For those customers whose future plans include
migrating to other computing platforms, we are ready to assist them in
making that transition while protecting their investment with Bradmark
products."

These guys must be ecstatic: what percentage of their future sales will come
from the 3000? 0% I am sure.

Just thought I'd share..............
