Well, that was interesting...

I just got off the phone with a guy named Jeff Utigard from HP, I suppose
from within Carly's office. He said that he had received several emails of
late describing the "nasty rumor" we have been discussing here and called me
to find out where I had heard this information. I pointed him to the
HP3000-L archives (he had never heard of the 3000-L). He said that while he
appreciated our loyalty and concern (we've been using the HP3000 since
1989), he could neither confirm nor deny the rumor, which, as I told him, is
not big deal because we'll find out tomorrow during the webcast. I also
referred him to Wirt Atmar (of whom he had never heard either - can you
believe that!?).

Well, like I said, interesting, but at least I know they know....
