Hi,

> 1. What language was most of the applications in MPE written in? C?

Applications...probably COBOL, like most mainframes.

The operating system is mostly written in Pascal/iX, with some
assembler, SPL/V, and C.
IMAGE uses PSPL, Pascal, and SPLash!

> 2. Is the TCP/IP stack of MPE based on HPUX?

no :(

> 3. Last of all, I *looking very stupid* want to ask if there is any free
> downloads of MPE O/S to try on Intel machines?

Well, the Intel machines won't be running MPE, so... :)

If you're looking for some software that runs on both Windows and
MPE, there are a few items. One that comes to mind is the LZW
package from Telamon (www.telamon.com) ... which runs on a wide
variety of platforms. (It's sort of like a PKZIP)

There is a fair amount of free MPE/iX software (for running on
an HP 3000) at various sites. http://www.allegro.com/software/hp3000/
is one site with such programs.
