I think all that you can buy (new) for the XP256 are the 72Gb mechanisms..
which DOES mean that you've gotta have a very recent firmware upgrade on it
(don't recall the version offhand). We originally stocked ours with 15Gb
discs for highest performance, but when we went to add some about 6 months
ago we found that not only could you no longer order those, you couldn't buy
the 36Gb mechs new either. We did manage to get some used ones at that
point, though I wasn't crazy about that.
As you probably know, you can't just plug any old disc mech into an XP256...
;-)
There may be a few brokers with used mechs, though that's probably not a
great idea in an XP unit. To buy new, maybe slightly easier than dealing
with HP would be one of the VARs... We went through a group that knows the
XPs pertty well called Vion Corporation in DC - 202-467-5500.
