Thanks to all who responded.
I thought of the escape sequence option because the SET ECHO=on/of was
shifting the HPACCOUNT(:) prompt a couple of spaces to the right when I
typed the password and hit ENTER. Was there a way around this other than
using escape sequences?
However, Robert's suggestion worked perfectly with the added caviar of
inverse video.
Thanks again.

Joe

My favourite is (from the Robelle SMUG book).

esc&dsB (begin inverse video with SECURITY VIDEO)
esc&d@ (end the current display enhancement)

With this you can do

  input answer,'Enter password: ![chr(27)]&dsB'
  echo ![chr(27)]&d@

and another inverse block is displayed when the user presses a key. Lets
them know that they are entering something.

According to my Reflection 4.1 reference card it is:

ESC&k0L ESC&k1L Local echo off/on

I love that card.....
