I posted this through our newsserver over 24 hours ago, but
it has not reached the archives @raven nor groups.google.com.
Sorry, when HP's newsserver will eventually catchup and you
may get a duplicate message.
Goetz.

Important notice for HP TurboStore customers
Dear HP TurboStore customer,
HP has recently learned about a problem in our
TurboStore product, which can affect your ability
to successfully recover certain files from a backup.
This problem has been fixed with a new patch MPELXR9,
which is available in the following versions:
MPELXR9-A for MPE/iX 6.5
MPELXR9-B for MPE/iX 7.0
Systems on MPE/iX 6.0 are not affected by this problem.
This patch has been intensively and successfully tested
inhouse and at several beta sites, and is now available
as general release patch from your Response Center and
the ITRC.
Technical details about the circumstances of this problem
are appended to this message. To avoid this problem, HP
recommends you to install this patch at your earliest
convenient time.
If you have any archive or off-site critical backups which
were created using online=start you should consider
re-creating them once the patch is installed.
Please contact your HP Response Center, if you have
any additional questions.
*********************************************************************
TurboStore ONLINE=START silently fails to backup files on 6.5 and 7.0
TurboStore silently fails to backup data for certain files
under the following combined circumstances:
- STORE with ;ONLINE=START option only
- Files which are not attached to Transaction Manager
(TurboImage databases, KSAMXL, KSAM64 and user XM attached
files not affected; Allbase/SQL DBE's are not attached
to transaction manager and may therefore be affected)
- Files that are NOT large files (Files whose maximum possible
size is less than 4Gb)
- Files must be open during the sync point
- Files must be closed (by all processes) between the
end of sync point and the point where they are written
onto the media
If these conditions match, then TurboStore will only write the
file label onto the backup media, but no data contents are stored.
No error message is generated in the STORE listing.
