I wouldn't recommend using any handheld as an MP3 player. Why? It chews up
batteries like nobody's business, and you don't want to have your data
unavailable because you used up your batteries playing "Chariots of Fire".

I've got a Jornada 548, which normally has the best battery life of any
PocketPC, and my first data loss was due to trying to use it as an MP3 player
on an airplane. While Palms tend to have better battery life, that's due
to the lower average power consumption... they tend to have less sophisticated
batteries, in fact, and I can't imagine they'll handle MP3 even as well as
that.

I'd recommend a separate cheap dedicated MP3 player no matter what handheld
you use.
