this really would be a nice little program to have, Pete.  Sure, you could
build a whole pricey package around it, but hey, we're just looking for
something to translate HP CCTL into pure ascii, right?  just a guess, it
might be in the CSL named CCTL2ASC or something.  

Does it already exist?    

Seems like a pretty easy write if not.  If anybody's willing and will
open-source it, I'll pay my ten or twenty bucks; I bet everybody else will
too, just to get around the occasional 'too-smart MPE spooler' problems.
