The 2nd Annual Jazzconnect.com Jazz Competition

        Attention jazz musicians and music lovers!!!  The 2nd Annual
Jazzconnect.com Jazz Competition runs October 1st through December 15th.
Jazz musicians from around the world are invited to enter and jazz fans are
invited to listen and vote for their favorite contestants.   Entries are
being accepted now through December 1st. The new and improved website
interface shows the voting scores real time and keeps track of your personal

        Musicians --- Enter Now!  Submit a recorded performance to Jazzconnect. The
recording will be placed on the website "competition stage" in Real Audio
format. The jazz community will be able to listen to the entries and vote
on-line. The winner will receive a grand prize that includes round-trip
airfare to Washington, DC, deluxe hotel accommodations at the Four Seasons
Hotel, and a paid gig at Washington DC's top jazz club Blues Alley that will
be recorded live and pressed into a CD. The winner will receive 300 CDs to

SXSW 2002 Is Now Accepting Music Festival Applications

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Music, Film and Interactive Conferences will
host over 15,000 participants March 8 - 17, 2002 in Austin, Texas.  In its
16 years SXSW has evolved into a unique global event focused on the creative
side of the entertainment business.  It is a place to showcase work, market
products, foster relationships, discuss the future, learn and teach.  In
preparation of this internationally renowned event, applications are being
accepted for the music festival.

Bands at the SXSW Music Festival played before 35,000 music fans and music
industry professionals.  Musical genres featured at the festival include:
alternative country, blues, country/bluegrass, jazz, hip-hop, Latin, r&b,
and others. To apply to perform at the Music Festival, please enclose a
completed showcase application, a CD or cassette of original materials (at
least 3 songs), a photo, biography, press kit and processing fee.  The
application deadline is November 9, 2001 with a fee of $20. Go to
