I've heard that the Pentagon lost 70(?) VAX 11/780 computers and is
looking for replacements. A possible solution is VAX simulator(s) I've
seen discussed in alt.folklore.computers but I don't think it/they are
finished yet. I don't know if they could get enough existing 11/780s to
replace their functions.
One would hope they have offsite backups.
