I received this from another source and am very skeptical.  The candles
would be visible only in the most underdeveloped areas, since they would be
overwhelmed by electric light sources anywhere else, and there isn't
sufficient population in such underdeveloped areas to generate enough candle
light.  Also the phrase "The U.S. has asked..." is not specific enough to
sound authentic.

U.S. has asked that everyone step out on their lawns tonight at 10:30 and
light a candle.  They will be taking a satellite picture of the U.S. and
posting it on the news tomorrow morning. Please pass this on to as many
people as possible.
