Scott,

If you use Samba/iX (it's free) then:

1) Your users can SAVE their Excel files (in Text or CSV format) directly to
the HP3000.
2) You then process the files and send a Windows popup message telling them
the file is ready.
3) Your users IMPORT the data directly from the HP3000 into Access.

Hi Scott :)
   Have you got SuprTool?  This would allow you to create comma delimitted
files that can be easily imported into any of the xBase family of DBMS's
(Access is the latest cousin in this family)  The comma delimited file
format also works great for going into Excel...
