I'll jump into the current burst of PC questions with this one.

Among other stability problems, I have one wherin installation files downloaded from Microsoft or Netscape are flagged as corrupt by the installer programs. This problem has persisted across multiple re-installations of Windows/98 SR2.

- I switched to WSFTP for downloading of the install programs, which in turn handle the downloads of the install files (.CABs for Microsoft, some other extension for Netscape.) Finally, I ordered the Netscape 6.1 CD to get it installed without downloads. Even installing 6.1 from the CD I get the failure message for a bad component file.

I have de-installed all Norton products, and the problem remains.

I this a known problam?

Thanks,

Dave
