True...I accidentally said PDC instead of IODC firmware.
It looks like firmware is (or was) available for the
3000/925, 935, 949 (and 9000/825, 934, 835, 845, 635, & 645) to let
them boot from SCSI. According to the CE manual in 1991, the system must
have IODC firmware of 6.05 or later, and that "IODC firmware upgrade
kits are available".
