I am sure you can find non-MS apps for everything you want to do, but I
think the bigger problem will be exchanging data with the larger world.
Like it or not, the de facto standard is MS. Almost everyone I deal with,
clients, vendors, friends, etc, send MS Word documents, Excel spreadsheets,
Powerpoint presentations, etc, without even asking if I can handle it. I am
all-MS here because it was too difficult to deal with my customers otherwise.
