Our network engineers have, as usual, violated change control
procedures and pulled a swiftie: they've changed the IP address
of our primary DNS, which also happens to be our main e-mail server
(an HP-UX box).
I've changed the entries in hosts.net and reslvcnf.net, and tried to
delete the NAME and PATH entries in the cache using NETTOOL, and
then did a NETCONTROL UPDATE=ALL;LAN=<lanname>
Alas, the cached entries won't disappear and we are forced to specify
the new IP address for outbout telnet to the box.
Can anyone remind me what more needs to be done to make the
changes fully effective (short of stopping and re-starting the network,
which won't make 300 or 400 users very happy)?
Cheers,
Ron Burnett
