The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) course is on! Dr. Gary Litchford
will teach the course as ESC 501-001,a two-credit hour graduate course
providing a rudimentary understanding of GIS concepts, operational software
(ArcView)skills, analysis of data, and production of maps. He will also
offer it for undergraduates as ESC 466.

The course will meet 11 weeks on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon,
starting Sept. 8 in Holt 116.

Faculty and staff who want to enroll should complete the graduate
application form <http://www.utc.edu/gradstudiesgraduateforms.htm>, pay a
$25 application fee, (if this has not already been done), and register
online or in the Graduate School Office. In addition, UTC employees will
need an employee fee waiver from the Personnel Office and $40 for special
books.A check or cash should be brought to the first class.

Please notify Dr. Litchford if you have any questions about the class
itself and Michelle Walters (4478) if you want assistance with registration.

Thank you for your interest. Deborah Arfken
