Ron,
My OT: rule is intended to put things on its place; I have read the OT:
Telnet, and i consider it is OT!

It is not HP3000 related; so it is off-topic here.

Your duplicate posting (and mine also) only wastes bandwith, and helps
electrons to add heat to the globe.

   Take care,

   Mark,

I'm just resending this message and removing the "OT" from the subject.

If there are any folks like me who have rules set up to take email with
"OT" in the subject and move them to an "off topic" folder that they
hardly read, they might miss this.

I almost missed it, as it was buried in the new POLITICS3000-L folder I
have had to set up. Which sadly had double the posts within it than my
regular HP3000-L folder did this morning.

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: New Telnet Security Hole

New Telnet hole discovered.

You can read the details at(ends in .html):
http://www.computerworld.com/storyba/0,4125,NAV47_STO62543,00.html

The article says that a hacker can cause a core dump which allows the
intruder to take total control of Social Security, cause rolling gray-outs
in California, add cabinet posts, raise Enron's stock price, increase chair
moisteners in sector 7-G, give a man a fish, and turn readers of the
Federalist papers into Democrats. A patch is available at the Free BSD web
site. It is not known in this affects HP9000-L.
