I don't know about that combination in particular, but I do know that
when I switched from using DDS-2 tapes to using DDS-3 tapes in our DDS-3
drive, the number of write errors went from about one in eight to less
than one in 50.
For what it's worth, I haven't found a similar disparity in reliability
between DDS-3 and DDS-4 tapes in our DDS-4 drive. Both provide excellent
reliability -- and we verify every store and do a test-restore monthly.
