Charlie,
We had a similar situation, where the application on HP3000 used KSAM files, i
used QUIZ to extract relevant data, The QUIZ output was in a form that could be
easily imported into SQLSERVER, and an Access database programmer set up an
Access frontend with data held in SQLSERVER database, with read only access, as
one database had about 150,000 records.
This has worked fine for the 2 databsases that we set up, as only needed to
download an mde file required to the few PC's that needed to access this data,
and setup the necessary ODBC entry on PC.

Charlie previously wrote.......
I have a HP3000 Model 932 that is being removed from our computer room
shortly. This machine for many years ran a application that stored
our Fleet data in a Image3000 database. This data stretches back in
some cases past 1985 and up to when we moved off the machine in late
1999. Before the machine is moved out of the computer room I would
like to move this database(s) from the HP3000 out to our network and
then either leave it on the network or place it on a PC's local hard
drive.<SNIP>.........
