If you are looking to have a separate copy as a spool file, then you can use
SPIFF.PUB.SYS

:file savecopy;dev=lp,1;cctl
:spiff
T ####    (where # is component of O#### id for spoolfile)
COPY ALL,*savecopy
EXIT

|does anyone have a method to make a copy of a file that is still in a
