Yes, it's me again -- wanting to give away some of the plants that are
filling up my yard faster than I can get holes dug to move them into. I
have had wonderful help this summer from Nick Bridges, a UTC football
player, but he will soon be leaving me to go full time into his last year
of football practice and then, of course, fall football. He and I have dug
and planted. I accuse him to working too fast and finishing tasks before I
can think what to do next.

It's hot, but not so hot as last summer! I once read that you can move
daylillies any time you can get a spade into the soil. So, we have been
moving daylillies & more have to GO AWAY to live elsewhere. I KNOW you
can't kill lirope (monkey grass) by leaving it bare root on the ground for
4-5 days. I did it two weeks ago. It's not too hot to plant if you have
water.

Daylillies that need to go from my yard:
* Most of the Orange Star daylillies must go. They have multiplied beyond
belief. Obviously they are going to grow & bloom in hot weather. They just
bloomed on & on this summer. Although these are really nice, I am NOT
overly fond of anything orange anyway, even if they do have a red star in
their center. I like blue & gold.
* Some: Double/triple orange with streaks of red daylillies.
* Some: Golden Glow outdid itself again.
* Some of this & that. Corals, reds, etc.
* Some of the Stella d'Ora's - a reblooming daylilly  - yellow.

Other free plants:
* Can you use some solid dark green monkey grass (lirope)? Got lots.
Needs thinning.
* Once again, birds planted lots of Oregon grape for me. I have
seedlings coming up everywhere for anyone who wants some. Easy to dig &
easy to transplant. Birds love their seeds, which look like grape bunches.
* The birds also planted some English Ivy seeds here & there. I hate
ivy. I conduct wars against ivy. In a rescuing mood? Come save the ivy from
the Round-up.
* Iris -- mostly shades of lavendar, but I also will share the dark red &
giant white.

If you call me (267-2512) and tell me what you want and that you can drive
by on Thursday or Friday this week, Nick will dig and have them ready for
you. Otherwise, on this Saturday morning between 9 and 11 am, it's on the
old I point, you dig plan.

Directions from UTC: Cross the Veteran's Bridge onto Barton. In about 5-6
blocks, bear left onto Hixson Pike. Turn up the hill at the second left
onto
Hanover Street. This is the corner between the Golden Gallon and Plum
Nelly/Margarita's across from the back of the Greenlife Grocery. We live in
the bad curve at the top of the hill: 1012 Hanover Street. Or: from North
Chattanooga's Frazier Avenue, turn left on Tremont (if you turn right, you
go into Coolidge Park), up hill to cross Mississippi Ave (where Tremont
turns into a newly paved barely one & 1/2 lane pig track down the hill) and
Hanover starts. We are on the right. Drive into our driveway. We'll be
glad to see you.
