I'm just looking over some old flat files created over
the past 10 years by different users using differing means.
They could be jobs, command files, udcs, FORTRAN source,
Powerhouse source. Basically, your average fileset of crap.

I can filter out by filecode, or format type, stuff I don't
want to look at. But there doesn't seem to be a way to filter
out unnumbered vs. numbered.

Tracy,

How are the files being created that makes it inconsistent? Are you
using
the set command to change the defaults? Are you receiving the files from an
application or a vendor that is not being consistent?

Thanx,
        Jon

Sorry, that's an inconsistent assumption.
I can't go by that.

Tracy,

What about record size? An unnumbered file is 72 bytes and a number
file
is 80 bytes.

Thanx,
        Jon

Is there a way to detected an unnumbered file versus
a numbered file without opening it?
