Okay, I'll bite:
"How soon can I install/test NSSWITCH!".

Subject: NSSWITCH.NET.SYS {sample file}
Hello Folks @ 3000-l,
Re: NSSWITCH.NET.SYS {sample file}
We are in the process of porting over the /etc/nsswitch functionality
from Unix to MPE.
I have attached to this message the NSSWSAMP file for NSSWITCH on the
HP-e3K. I hope this message prompts some questions and feed back like:
"How soon can I install/test NSSWITCH!".

#nsswitch.net.sys file
#Copy this file to NSSWITCH.NET.SYS if that file does not already exist.
#
#format (without the '#', of course):
#
#hosts : <dns>|<files>[SUCCESS=<return>|<continue> UNAVAIL=<return>|
#<continue> TRYAGAIN=<return>|<continue> NOTFOUND=<return>|<continue>
#<files>|<dns>
#
# Note 1: The above syntax is "very" specific to blank spaces
# Note 2: The above syntax is "very" specific to upper/lower case.
# Note 3: The above syntax does not support continuation lines. It may
# be necessary to build the record width of this configuration
# file larger than the default for EDITOR.pub.sys.
# Note 4: Blank Lines or Lines beginning with a "#" are treated as
# comment lines.
# Note 5: If validation of the first non-comment line fails the defaults
# will be used.
# Note 6: Only the first non-comment line of the configuration file is
# read.
# Note 7: If no second preference <dns>|<files> is present in the
# configuration then only the specified option will be
# performed.
# Note 8: For best performance, move your configuration command to the
# first line in this file.
# Note 9: Only the options SUCCESS and NOTFOUND are valid for <files>.
#
# The default operation of MPE with out a NSSWITCH.NET.SYS file is:
#
#hosts : dns[SUCCESS=return UNAVAIL=continue TRYAGAIN=return
NOTFOUND=return] files
#
#
# Examples of the NSSWITCH functionality that work (without the '#', of
# course):
#
# ----------
#
#hosts : dns[SUCCESS=return UNAVAIL=continue TRYAGAIN=return
NOTFOUND=continue] files
#
# This sample configuration supports the HOSTS.NET.SYS being used as the
# backup/secondary location where the name lookup request is performed.
# In the case that the DNS server does not respond or the DNS server
# responds with not found, then the HOSTS.NET.SYS will be used as the
# backup/secondary location where the name lookup request is performed.
#
# ----------
#
#hosts : files[SUCCESS=return NOTFOUND=continue] dns
#
# This sample configuration supports the HOSTS.NET.SYS being used as
# the first/initial location where the name lookup request is performed.
# In the case that the search of the HOSTS.NET.SYS does not return the
# name, then the DNS server will be used as the backup/secondary
# location where the name lookup request is performed.
