Yes, something I would highly recommend (at least if you have a 24/7
operation you need to support like us). We have a single server running
every console (multiple hardwired ports on the server, etc.). We have three
HP3000 consoles, two HP9000 consoles, An IBM AS400 console and various
network manager consoles and tools, all running on the same server
accessible by PC Anywhere.

If we have a trouble call, we can do just about anything remotely (except
physically press the on/off buttons of course).

Of course with a single sensitive access like this, your security needs to
be very tight. Pre-configured dial-back access to specified remote phones
only. Highest security levels on PC Anywhere. And of course you need a clone
of this server and/or other terminals/PC's available for use as consoles if
this central server goes down.

The best would be a second mirrored server with automatic fail switch over
capabilities. But, we have not gotten that working right yet. For now we
find it acceptable that for the very rare case when the console server
itself goes down we need to drive into the office. Actually this case is not
too severe since the separate machines will keep running fine without
consoles for a while.

Just to qualify that we sometimes use a remote PC connected via
modem using PCANYHERE as a console successfully,
