Fellow listers,

This does have some HP3000 relevance since the data are created on our
hp3000 969.

A process creates a 'comma delimited' file on our HP and using JTMAIL e-mails
it to a number of people with a '.csv' extension. The reciepient opens their
file with EXCEL for verification and incorporation in some other system.
One of the columns contains the payroll number and recently we begun having
problems since a new employee was assigned a payroll number with a leading zero.
Excel suppresses the leading zero and eliminates it from the file when the user
saves it and forwards it on. The user would prefer not to have to set the
columns format to 'text' and thus we are trying to find if there is a way of
'pre coding' the payroll number data, thus forcing EXCEL to recognize the
column as 'text'.
