Cute. Thanks for mentioning pax, Mark. This filename translation
feature seems to even allow renaming absolute filenames to relative
ones! Very handy for unpacking tar files that have been packaged
with absolute pathnames when those absolute pathnames do not match
the desired location on the target system.
