From what I know, here are the answers :

Q1) Hardware

9x7 goes out of support in April 2002. Expect calls about 9x7 hardware to be
handled on a best effort basis (that is, lots of $ or ?) starting May 1,
2002.

Q2) Operating system

No idea of an HP committed EOS date for 6.5 but, since 6.0 goes EOS at the
same time the 9x7 goes EOS (April 2002), 6.5 should remain supported for at
least 18 months (common HP practice ...) after that. The previous HP(e)3000
range (9x8, 9x9 and 997) runs on both 6.5 and 7.0, there no requirement to
keep 6.5 till 9x8s, 9x9s and 997 all go EOS (Feb. 2006). My expectation
(only speaking for myself at this point) is that 6.5 may go EOS about
halfway between April 2002 and February 2006. My bet would be late 2003 /
early 2004.

Q3) Patches on the internet

See Q2 above for details, but I would expect patches on ITRC to become
unavailable at the same time 6.5 goes EOS.

Hope this helps.

Objet : [HP3000-L] End of support

I have a 9x7 box. If I run 6.5 on it,
  1) When will HP no longer answer calls about the hardware?
  2) When will HP no longer answer calls about the operating system?
  3) When will patches available on via the Internet no longer be available?

Thanks,
Ted
