As many of you struggle with the replacement of OTG, this choice is simple.
We at Quest Software have had a very robust solution called Bridgeware that
can replicate your data to Oracle applications in real-time or scheduled
modes. Delivering data in the Oracle record format fast, resource efficient
and on-time. To find out more about this solution visit us at
http://www.quest.com/middleware/ to explore our middleware solutions or call

I understand many of you did not receive the attachment in my message of

Internal and Partner Communication:

With Oracle's recent business decision to discontinue the Oracle database
along with the associated Transparent Gateway product on the HP e3000
platform, we would like to update you on the support life timeline for
Oracle 7.X and your transition options.

Oracle Customer Care (Full Support) for Oracle 7.3.4.X on the MPE/iX
platform ended on December 31, 2000; however, Extended Assistance Support
for Oracle 7.3.4.X on MPE/iX 6.0 and 6.5 will be available until December
31, 2002. There are no plans to certify 7.3.4.X on MPE/iX 7.0 and
subsequent releases at this time.

Oracle Transparent Gateway Alternatives

Currently there is no direct replacement alternative for the Oracle
Transparent Gateway; however, there are several middleware options such as
ODBCLink/SE, JDBC, ALLBASE/NET from HP, which through programmatic
techniques one could achieve the same result.

For more information on these as well as third-party middleware options, go
to the HP e3000 website and download the 'web enabling your hp e3000
applications and data access' white paper located in the 'information
library': http://www.hp.com/go/e3000

Oracle Alternatives

For customers who have the Oracle database there are several options:

1) For customers that need to transition to the HP 9000 to preserve
their application investment, HP offers the following options:
a) Convert HP e3000 hardware to comparable HP 9000 machine using HP
conversion kits.
b) Take advantage of the HP Trade-Up Program (in participating
countries) to trade-in current HP e3000 machine for a new HP 9000 platform.

Please contact your Oracle representative for information on Oracle license
transfer fees.

2) Convert to HP Allbase/SQL and stay on the HP e3000. Customers may
want to consider this for applications that require minimal re-engineering
effort.

For consulting services, please check the following website:
http://www.hp.com/go/3000partners for a complete list of consultants.

For further information, please contact your HP sales representative.
