Keyword : if needed. But looks that nobody will needed to switch everyday
between systems. That's marketing tricks from many internet companies and
consultants when they are talking to companies and use "Maybe you will NEED
to switch systems". When you establish your IT infrastructure next changes
are after many many years. Nobody is switching systems on yearly or monthly
basis.

Again keywords - most likely.
EJB is not even close to .NET techologies.
NET is framework for rich client-server application and for WEB
APPLICATION.
90% java code looks that is on WEB. Java fail on client-server side, and I
was betting before three years with frends of mine that JAVA will fail
there. Java applets fail too. If you think that servlets are object oriented
programming, think one more time.Or maybe JSP is object oriented
programming? (Yes ASP is not to, and JSP is plain copy of Microsoft ASP
pages with JAVA code inside instead VB)
Building WEB application with .NET is more like building regular
application. Code behind the web pages is completly separate and is event
driven.
In all JAVA magazines you can find questions about why people are still not
using EJB everyday. Why????. Because if EJB is so good everybody will jump
there. How ENHYDRA support EJB's? How about all J2EE part?
The big problem with JAVA, JAVA is proprietary language. Before couple years
many people were complaining they don't want proprietery things. But
reallity is different JAVA is proprietary language. IT's not standard.
One good thing about .NET is that by September or October will be promote in
STANDARD by ECMA (looks that initailly will be oround 200 classes included
in that standard. Microsoft submit 700 but ECMA cannot standardize that many
in this period of time). Having standard that are not anymore controled by
only ONE COMPANY , allow many other to start using and develop their own
compilers and make available on many platforms, without paying for licence.

Big question if it's running on what? One PC, two PC, 500MHz, 1GHz,....
I saw entire web site with transaction server, with Ehchange server, with
tons of other application running on single $5,000 PC box. Yes you can run
this, but will be sloooow. Did you ever expirence slooooow on Microsoft web
site, on DELL web site, on HSN.COM?

>To run ASP pages you buy windows , you have full support for IIS server,

Security is completly different topic.
I now that last year there was a contest(it was organized from one of the
magazines PC-week, or Internet week or ???) about who has the most secure
SERVER : IBM AS400 or PC server with Microsoft Windows on it. Can you ges
result.
Nobody was winner. After many days trying to break into it, noone hacker was
able to get in AS400 neither Windows.
Final conclusion was that both are excelent secure servers.
But one big difference was that to setup AS400 12 engineers from IBM must
work on it to make it buletproof, and on other side only ONE guy was setting
everything. Did you see the difference.
Same thing apply on HP3000 side. Do you have a person who knows operating
system.
Question about setting servers is DO YOU HAVE A PERSON WHO KNOWS WHAT IS
DOING.
I'm not microsoft fan neither any other fan. I'm just trying to use whatever
is available with minimal cost.
