Hi All :)
Sorry... don't have time to check the archives on this one.... :( and I am
sure that this is a dumb question.... but
This question is related to the fact that whenever our router/T1 circuit
has troubles our production 979-200 puts an entry into the routing table for
the currently assigned IP address of the PC's at our clinic that is on the
router and the entry in the routing table has the IP address of our firewall
(defined as the active non-default gateway on this box) ... and we have to
clear them out... so here is the question:
We have two gateways defined on our production 3k.... the active default
gateway and a active non-default gateway, see gatelisting below from
netttool:
Gateway IP Hops Flags Active Default Gateway
______________________________________________________________
10.10.0.1 0 0 y y
10.10.0.10 0 0 y n
______________________________________________________________
10.10.0.1 is our first (of many) router to one of our clinics and 10.10.0.10
is our firewall... thru which we access our 3k via NS/VT reflection and
Minisoft connections ...
The question is: If I take out the gateway in NMMGR for our firewall will we
be able to access via the internet our 3k's? no these IP addresses aren't
the actual ones but are the ones we are using as private IP's....
Please feel free to give me a networking 101 class if necessary on this
one... (we all know I need help! but we don't have a shrink on site!
hehe).... we have networking consultants (non-3k people) telling us that the
second gateway entry is causing this... and to take it out... but I think it
is necessary so that we (us IS people) can get to our 979 via the internet..
thru our firewall...
Thanks,
Art "trying to kill the finger pointing! " Bahrs
