Mark,
You can feel free to ask the folks in comp.sys.hp.hpux if they'd like to
have the new list gated to the newsgroup (although if any of them have read
3000-L they'll probably threaten your family if you try:). I would expect
that the volume of off-topic posts, if it's anything like in 3000-L, might
be ill-received by the folks there. If you'd like to ask them, feel free,
and we at EDIT will be pleased to gate the newsgroup and 9000-L just like we
do for 3000-L and comp.sys.hp.mpe. We can also provide a one-way gateway
from the Usenet group to the new 9000-L mailing list if 9000-L members would
like to be able to see the questions and answers available in the newsgroup
via the mailing list.
If comp.sys.hp.hpux isn't chuffed with the proposition of getting a feed
from 9000-L, it would also be possible for someone to request that a new
newsgroup (perhaps comp.sys.hp.ot:) be created for those people for whom
mailing list membership is im[practical|possible]. One can find a version
of the accepted (and drawn-out) procedures for requesting comp.sys.hp.9000-L
at http://www.geocities.com/nnqweb/ncreate.html.
Regards,
Adam Dorritie
