Hello All (but mainly Mark Bixby),

OpenSSL 0.9.6a finally compiled successfully. The final procedure was:

./config
modify the line in the Makefile from "AR=ar r" to "AR=/POSIXC60/bin/ar2 -r"
make
make test

The whole process took 3.5 hours on a 928 with no users on it.
